December 14th 2016
Al Ahli Bank (ABK) recently celebrated the outstanding efforts of 20 people with Down Syndrome (DS) who successfully graduated from the Kuwait Down Syndrome Society’s (KDSS) three month skills workshops. The workshops were designed to improve the social and awareness skills of people with DS, to be better equipped to benefit from and engage with the general community.
The graduation ceremony, which was sponsored by ABK, was held at the Kuwait Down Syndrome Society’s premises in Khaldiya on Sunday 11 December 2016. The ceremony was attended by the graduates, their families and friends, volunteers, and a host of specially invited guests, including senior ABK executives.
Mr. Fawzy Al Thunayan, General Manager of Board Affairs at ABK, presented awards and certificates to the graduates and also to volunteers, who give up their spare time to work with people with DS and help KDSS carry out its important work. As a gesture of appreciation, Mr Al Thunayan received a trophy on behalf of ABK from Mrs. Hessa Al Balool, Chairperson of the Kuwait Down Syndrome Society.
ABK supports a large number of organisations in Kuwait who work to improve Kuwaiti society and give support to the community. The Bank is particularly focused on supporting programmes for people with special needs.
