ABK launches Graduate Development Program with Moody’s

In line with its agenda to cultivate local Kuwaiti talent, Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait (ABK) launched the ABK Graduate Development Program in collaboration with Moody’s Analytics. Participants for the program were carefully selected from different disciplines and backgrounds ranging from engineering to finance and business graduates.

The Moody’s - ABK Graduate Development Program, consisting of various independent modules, is designed to equip Kuwaiti participants with practical skills and knowledge to bolster professional competencies crucial to career progression in the financial services sector. Under the new hybrid 12-month program, participants will embark on developing Core Credit Skills, Sales & Service Skills, Analytical Skills, & Credit Writing.

Speaking about the program during the launch, Mr. Loai Muqames, CEO of ABK – Kuwait, said: “At ABK, human capital is our most prized asset and investing in skills is essential to our growth strategy and success. The Moody’s - ABK Graduate Program is one of many strategic initiatives launched in line with the Bank’s commitment to create and sustain a strong performance-based culture. Moreover, we believe in active learning and development, and we aim to elevate human skillsets by carefully creating opportunities for further development on all levels. The key pillar of our selection strategy is to attract top talent who are motivated and driven, providing them with opportunities to develop further with a view to taking on leadership roles in the future. ABK remains steadfast in driving nationalization through strategic hiring and development of Kuwaiti talent, offering fulfilling careers in the banking sector and enriching Kuwait’s knowledge economy.”

In addition to the above, ABK’s partnership with e-learning platforms Percipio and Intuition deliver diversified programs offering employees an extensive range of learning solutions for developing soft and hard skills. The Bank also leverages LinkedIn to deliver unlimited training programs for all employees facilitating access to programs and sessions throughout the year. These development programs offered are over and above the annual training schedule run internally and through training institutes such as the Institute of Banking Studies (IBS). To date 925 staff have completed an average of 15 hours training each in 2020/2021.

In 2020, ABK’s ‘IT Academy’ successfully completed a six-month intensive program on the main IT systems used at the bank, including its Finacle core banking solution, the PowerCARD payment processing system, and key Oracle and Microsoft solutions. The program not only taught technical knowledge, but provided students with the human and soft skills needed to prepare for entry into the workplace, enabling them to develop careers as IT professionals in the banking industry.
