Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait (ABK), in cooperation with Central Bank of Kuwait, has recently announced the implementation of a new electronic cheque clearing system, starting 14 June 2015.
The new system, which follows international standards and world best practices, will help to upgrade banking systems offered by ABK to its customers.
The initiative involves the introduction of new cheques with upgraded security features and designs. Under the new system, which will be applicable to KD cheques only, each cheque will be scanned and processed by bank tellers in each ABK branch. This will reduce the time it takes to clear cheques from three working days to one working day, increasing convenience for customers by saving them both time and effort.
All cheques need to be standardized based on specifications set by the Central Bank of Kuwait and we urge all our customers to ensure that they are using the new standard cheques currently being issued by the Bank.
