Event attended by Minister of State for Development and Planning Affairs and included activities by primary school students
Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait (ABK) today announced its successful sponsorship of a special event for the elderly home to mark the Annual International Day for the Elderly (World Elderly Day), which is held each year on 1 October. Conducted by the Ministry of Social Affairs, this year’s event in Kuwait was held at the Ministry’s theater in Sulaibikhat on Thursday, 1 October.
Mr. Fawzy Al Thunayan, ABK’s General Manager of Board Affairs said : “ABK is proud of its close ties with the local community, especially the elderly. Through our sponsorship of this event to mark World Elderly Day in Kuwait we hope to continue this tradition of bringing together people of all ages to celebrate and honor the senior members who helped shape Kuwait and are the pillars of Kuwaiti society.”
The event featured a wide variety of activities for people of all ages, including a show put on by primary school students, a performance by a local traditional singer and distribution of gifts for the elderly to commemorate the occasion.
‘World Elderly Day’, which is endorsed by the United Nations General Assembly, is celebrated each year to draw attention to the welfare of the elderly as well as to draw attention to their significant involvement and contribution to society. The event was the latest of ABK’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives which are designed to support different sectors of Kuwait’s society.
