Terms & Conditions

  • “The Bank”: Means Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait K.S.C.P.
  • “The Card”: Means the prepaid cards issued by the bank to the customer. All transactions of this card shall be recorded in its special account held with the Bank.
  • “The Customer or Applicant”: is the natural person or body corporate who fills up and submits the application for the card.
  • “Cardholder”: Means the customer to whom the card is issued, and whose name appears in print thereon.
  • “Personal Identification Number (PIN)”: Means the card’s secret number / password delivered by the Bank to the cardholder in a sealed envelope.
  • “Transaction or Card Transaction”: Means buying goods, receiving services, cash withdrawals or other actions taken by means of using the card.
  • “Chargeback”: Means the reversal of the card transaction debited to the customer.

General Terms and Conditions for Prepaid Cards

  1. A customer who is 16 years of age or older is entitled to apply for this card, whether a Kuwaiti citizen or a resident of Kuwait.
  2. The card shall be issued to ABK customers who have an account with ABK in accordance with the terms and conditions of the card.
  3. Charging or recharging the card shall be in Kuwaiti Dinars only.
  4. The customer can use the card locally and internationally for purchases through online purchase channels.
  5. The customer can charge or recharge the card using K-Net debit cards issued by a local bank.
  6. The minimum amount to charge or recharge the card is KD 25/-.
  7. The maximum amount to charge or recharge the card per day shall be KD 3,000 / - (KD Three Thousand only).
  8. At the request of the customer, the Bank may issue a card in the name of another person designated by the customer to be authorized to use his card account. The value of transactions made with the card or any additional card requested by the customer shall be credited to the card account itself. In this case, the cardholder shall be responsible jointly with the customer for any amounts due or any consequences resulted from the same. The terms and conditions of the card issuance shall apply to the cardholder whose name is printed on it as applicable to the customer.
  9. The card shall be signed by the customer or the card holder whose name is printed on it immediately upon receipt from the bank, while retaining the personal identification number and not disclosing it to others.

The cardholder shall be responsible for this and for signing all receipts, invoices and other documents issued on the card transactions with the signature on them. Violation of this procedure shall have an effect on his/her continued compliance with these documents.

  1. The card is a prepaid card and allows its holder to obtain the funds charged in the card by the customer. It shall not grant the customer nor its holder the privileges of the credit card issued by the Bank.
  2. The use of the card shall incur certain fees and commissions, i.e., fees payable by the customer to the Bank with respect to the Card including, but not limited to, amounts spent by the customer on all card transactions, service charges, withdrawal of funds, transfer of balances, and fees to issue, renew and replace the card. The Bank reserves the right to levy any additional fees associated with the card whenever appropriate.
  3. The following amounts shall be debited to the card account in Kuwaiti Dinars:
  • The card issuance fee, which paid once For every year for the period of validity of the card on the date specified by the bank.
  • Amounts arising from the use of the card, fees and commissions are calculated from the date of the transaction in addition to the expenses including the expenses arising from the claim of the cardholder for debit balances resulting from its use.
  • Any fees or commissions deducted by banks, other institutions or companies issuing the card as a result of using it.
  1. The Cardholder can withdraw cash worldwide from any Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) that accepts the VISA logo, by entering the Personal Identification Number (PIN) at the time of withdrawal, the amount charged shall be deducted from the card in the value of the Cash Withdrawal amount and all fees applicable to the prepaid cards shall be deducted.
  2. All amounts due from the Cardholder / Customer as a result of the issuance and use of the card shall be calculated in Kuwaiti Dinars. For this purpose, the amounts for any of the Card’s transactions in foreign currencies shall be converted into the local currency (Kuwaiti Dinar). In this transfer, the spot sale price of the Kuwaiti Dinar in effect at the Bank against the foreign currency at the date of receipt of such amounts shall be considered. All amounts charged to the card account shall be credited to the Bank on the day deemed appropriate by the Bank, plus foreign exchange charges and commissions as determined by the Bank and the card issuers at the time of the transaction, without prejudice to the right of the Bank to amend the commission rate / fees at any time with the notification of the client of this amendment. The inclusion of this price in the statement of account shall be deemed as a notification to the client.

  1. The customer shall be absolutely responsible for the card, its use and the use of its PIN. The customer shall bear all the consequences thereof, especially in case of loss, theft, destruction or misuse, whether by its holder or by third parties, whether with or without his consent. The customer shall indemnify the Bank for any damages or losses arising as a result of the same.
  2. In the event that the card is lost, stolen or destroyed, the Cardholder / Customer shall promptly report it to the Bank’s Call Center. If the report is by telephone, the customer is obliged to confirm this by written notification within seven days. In all cases, the customer shall be responsible for any use thereof until the bank receives the written notification. The card may be issued (replaced) to the customer after paying the prescribed fees.
  3. The Bank shall not be responsible for the manner in which the Cardholder uses or misuses the card, nor shall the Bank be responsible for the refusal by any institution, company or others to deal with the card, nor for any defect or shortage in the goods or services obtained by the Cardholder. The Bank shall not be liable to any loss or damage arising from malfunction or failure of ATMs or card accepting machines inside or outside Kuwait, whether for technical or any other reason. The Customer expressly acknowledges that he/ she discharges the Bank from any liability arising from any action stated above, and that he shall not refrain from paying the amounts debited to the card account because of any dispute or claim in this regard. In no event shall he/she be entitled to request a set-off between the bank’s dues towards him and any rights he has towards any of the parties dealing with the card.
  4. The Bank grants the Client / Cardholder the right to avail the benefits and rewards of the holders of the Bank’s cards in accordance with the terms and conditions set out in the agreements with other companies that have provided these benefits to the Bank to provide them in turn to its Cardholders. The Bank has the right to amend or cancel any of these benefits and rewards at any time at the Bank’s discretion. The Customer / Cardholder acknowledges his knowledge and consent to these benefits and rewards and the Bank’s right to amend or cancel them at any time without stating reasons thereof. The Customer / Cardholder authorizes the Bank to update the data obtained by the Bank, including personal data such as e-mail, phone numbers and address, and authorizes the Bank to provide associates that providing these benefits and rewards with this updated information.
  5. The customer acknowledges that the charge / recharge operations of prepaid card and all other transactions on the card do not involve suspicion of money laundering or any financing of terrorist activities in all its forms. It also acknowledges his/her compliance with laws and regulations governing money laundering, terrorism financing and other financial crimes.
  6. The Bank shall have the right to cancel the prepaid card at any time without stating any reason thereof, in case Know Your Customer (KYC) data are not updated and / or in case that he/she does not comply with Anti- Money Laundering / Counter Finance of Terrorism (AML/CFT) laws and instructions.

  1. In the event of a client’s dispute on a card transaction, the dispute must be submitted to any of the Bank’s branches or notified to the Bank’s Call Center within 45 days of the transaction date. The customer shall be obliged to provide all documents required for the investigation. The customer agrees and accepts that the amount of the disputed transaction and the dispute handling expenses shall be credited to the card account only if the chargeback process (dispute settlement rules) has resulted in a decision in favor of the Cardholder.
  2. Any residual amounts on the canceled card shall be paid to the customer in Kuwaiti Dinars only and at the customer’s request.
  3. The customer hereby authorizes the Bank to obtain from the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) the address of his work and residence and any change that may occur, and authorizes the Bank to provide the PACI, if needed, such authorization.
  4. The card shall remain at all times the property of the Bank and the customer shall return it whenever the Bank so requests.
  5. The Bank shall have the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. By announcing the amendment in its branches or in any other way it deems appropriate, the amendment shall be effective from the date of its announcement and shall be binding on the customer.
  6. All ABK Rewards Program terms and conditions shall apply, which the customer acknowledges having reviewed on the official website of Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait and confirms their acceptance of.
  7. Customer agrees and authorizes the Bank to use, disclose and share Customer information and data with any of the Bank’s branches and subsidiaries within or outside Kuwait, as well as with certain marketing, advertising, surveying, collection, telephone and electronic services providers and other service providers contracted by the Bank.
  8. The customer acknowledges reviewing the terms and conditions of cashback program (ABK Commercial Visa Platinum Prepaid Card) through the official website of Ahli Bank of Kuwait and hereby agrees to accepting the relevant terms and conditions upon requesting this card.
  9. The Arabic version of the above Terms and Conditions shall be applicable in the event of any discrepancy between it and the English version.
  10. The customer acknowledges and agrees that the bank will reverse the refunded disputed amounts in the customer account in the event that the merchant provides proof that the customer have performed these transactions (purchase or payment).

  1. The Bank may, from time to time, amend the above- mentioned fees and commissions. The Client shall be notified in writing of the new fees and commissions three months prior to the date of commencement of the validity thereof. The Client may notify the Bank in writing during the said three months period of its rejection to the new fees and commissions. Hence, this agreement shall terminate automatically as of the date specified for the commencement of application of the new fees and commissions without prejudice to the rights and obligations of the parties of this agreement during the validity period prior to its expiry.
  2. Banking Secrecy:

Both parties acknowledge and agree to fully comply with banking secrecy in accordance with the banking laws and regulations in force in the State of Kuwait. Each party undertakes to maintain all information and data contained therein in complete confidentiality and not to disclose it to any third party, except pursuant to a judicial order issued by a competent court or an official request from the banking regulatory authorities legally authorized to do so, or with the prior written consent of the other party.

  1. The Customer acknowledges his review and awareness of the banking tariffs, terms and conditions and has obtained a copy thereof, which has been duly approved by the Central Bank of Kuwait, and acknowledges his acceptance of all fees and commissions as set out therein and any amendments and additions related thereto in the future from time to time, and undertakes to make available sufficient amounts at any of his accounts with the bank to cover these fees and commissions. Furthermore, the Customer, hereby, authorizes the Bank to debit such fees and commissions from any of the credit balances in his accounts at the bank. The Bank shall not be liable for any damages that might occur as a result of the reduction of the credit balance of the account, and for - consequently- depriving the Customer from using the privileges of the Bank’s products.
  2. The Cardholder/Customer hereby, authorizes the Bank to use any credit balances, monies, deposits or rights in any of his accounts maintained with the Bank or any of its branches and subsidiaries inside or outside Kuwait, or at any other banking institution inside the State of Kuwait, irrespective of the names or types of such accounts, for the settlement of any debit balances resulting from issuing and using the Card and completing the account entries for this purpose, without stating any reasons or any other legal action. the Customer shall not be released from his obligations thereunder, except for as much as has been actually settled, from such debit balances.
  3. The bank reserves the right to amend the Terms and Conditions (T&Cs) at any time, and any amendment shall be announced through its various communication channels with customers or by any other method means it deems appropriate, the amendment shall be constituted and effective 30 days from the date thereof, and shall be binding on the customer.
  1. The customer hereby authorizes the bank with the irrevocable and final authorization to exchange information about him, his balances, and his assets with other banks in accordance with applicable banking regulations, without any liability whatsoever on the part of the bank of the credit information network company in this regard. The customer may request the cancellation of this authorization at any time.

  1. The customer has the right to request cancellation of the service or product in accordance with the provisions of this contract, and the bank is obligated to refund the proportional part of the fees for the remaining period.
